Program Ideas!

Hey there! So I just wanted to seek out some program ideas from you guys and gals. We're going to be doing more video game nights and cooking competitions as those have been quite successful.

What other types of events do you all think would be good to have in the library?

I've received a couple of good suggestions, but am always looking for more ideas to enhance the programming here at the SPL. It's your area - make it your own! Post a comment or e-mail me (dbarbour@cwmars.org) and we can work something out around your idea. Whether it be another or more specific type of game night, or having someone come to the library to teach you some skill, or a competition of some sort, let me know what you think would attract a lot of people!

Peace!

I think it would be cool to have a real writer come in, such as Ralph Fletcher. That would get tons of people. If that is too much trouble, I suggest we have many more writing contests, and have party for the participants like with the vampire story contest.Maybe someone could come and teach us a foriengn language, this would be easy to do because there are TONS of foriegn language speakers in our community. Maybe we could do a Heritage night, where people from all kinds of places in the world could bring the foods that are popular in their home country or share their art and traditions. Thanks for making our community a fun place to be!

Hey there!

I love the suggestions! I was wondering if you and other teens could elaborate on the language learning idea. It sounds like there is a great idea there - just the suggestion is somewhat broad. What language? What format would be useful? What type of commitment do you think teens would make to such a program amidst homework and other after school activities?

Great ideas though - seriously!

That is true- most kids do learn a second language already at school, but maybe not just one language, but many different ones. Not to get really serious, but maybe a few words every time. I think people would like to teach their languages to others, and others would be interested in learning a bit.
